On Friday, 18th November 2022 IRebuild Africa organized a survivor-centered case management workshop in Yaounde, which targeted GBV case workers on survivor-centered case management skills building. The objective of this program was to improve available services provision and raise community awareness of services for survivors of gender-based violence.

This workshop mobilized 12 case workers from 12 organizations working on gender-based violence. Participants had an overview of the various conventions, advocating for the protection of women to which Cameroon belongs. Some of these conventions include The CEDAW convention, the BEIJING convention, UNSCR Resolution 1325, the Mapoto protocol (African Union), the Cameroon constitution itself, the civil code, and the penal code. Participants shared their experiences and challenges in handling GBV cases.
This workshop was co-facilitated with Sourries des Femmes. Participants were drilled on how to create safe spaces for survivors, set up core actions for a survivor-centered response, and how to use a survivor-centered attitude scale through a working session and survivor-centered case management manual to aid case workers in the field.
