We commemorate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl Child, On 11 October 2022, under the theme “Our Time is Now! Our Rights, Our Choices’. This day marks a global moment to promote the rights and empowerment of girls around the world.
This day is an opportunity to take account of the challenges that girls face, celebrate their progress and spotlight their important calls for action. On this note, policymakers, governments, and the general public have a responsibility to do more to protect and empower all girls. This includes investing in approaches and programs that address the root causes of violence and discrimination and ensuring girls’ perspectives are at the center of our responses.
In celebrating this day, IRebuild Africa carried out a girl’s rights sensitization campaign at Greenhill secondary school, whereby 300 young girls were educated on their rights. By this, we are placing girls front and center by amplifying their voices and solutions to the international community to support change for and with girls.
