Celebrating the international day of the rural woman.

On October 15, 2021, IRebuild Africa partnered with Building Together Cameroon to celebrate the International Day of the Rural Woman. This day recognizes the critical role and contribution of rural women in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.

The theme for this year was ‘Rural women cultivating good food for all’. We organized a workshop with 10 women leaders from the Ndokwa community in the Upper Sanaga Division. The workshop aimed to empower them with skills and knowledge on how to produce detergents, develop income-generating strategies and promote sustainable livelihoods. We also discussed sexual and reproductive health issues and how to access quality health services.

The workshop was interactive and participatory, with the women sharing their experiences, challenges and aspirations. They expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn new skills and network with other women. They also pledged to share what they learned with their families and communities.

We are proud of the achievements of these rural women and we will continue to support them in their efforts to improve their lives and those of their communities. We thank Building Together Cameroon for their collaboration and we look forward to more partnerships in the future.
