I’m excited to share my journey as a participant in the Skilful Ladies Initiative (SLI). Initially, I focused on selling fashion wear, but I wanted to expand my skills. So, I decided to learn a hands-on skill by taking the pastry training for making fish pies. I took this opportunity seriously and dedicated myself to mastering it. Today, I receive daily orders and supplies, which have significantly boosted my finances. This transformation has been incredible, and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next!
The Skillful Ladies Initiative has greatly empowered me to become financially viable. Through the program, I learned how to make liquid soap, which I turned into a small business. Since launching my liquid soap business, I have been able to cover my basic needs and provide for my son, which has greatly improved our quality of life. The initiative also taught me effective bookkeeping skills, allowing me to keep track of my business’s growth and expenses accurately. This knowledge has not only helped me manage my finances better but has also given me the confidence to expand my business further.
Barake and Peaceful are two brave sisters who escaped the North West region to find safety in Yaoundé during the NOSO crisis. Living with a relative, they have taken advantage of new opportunities, especially through the Skilful Ladies Initiative, where they learned to make pastries like fish pie. During the holidays, they focused on making and selling fish pies. They plan to continue this business when they return to Bamenda to reunite with their parents. Their journey is truly inspiring, and they show great determination.
I am immensely grateful for the transformative impact of the She Leads Program on my life and professional journey. This empowering program has bolstered my self-esteem, enabling me to confidently express myself and contribute my ideas. It has equipped me with valuable skills in public speaking, time management, and effective resource utilization. Additionally, the program has fostered a strong network of women entrepreneurs, facilitating meaningful connections and collaboration. I am sincerely thankful for this opportunity and wholeheartedly recommend the She Leads Program to anyone seeking to elevate their career.
I had an amazing time at Girls Empowerment Camp this summer! One of the best things I learned there was how to manage my finances and save money effectively. I used to spend all my allowance on things I didn’t really need, but now I have a budget and a savings plan. I feel more confident and independent about my financial future. And the best part is, I can share what I learned with my younger siblings and help them be financially responsible too.
